We attended the Cub Scout Day Camp at Merritt Park this year and had a
blast!  Also, we had 19 people go to Camp Oest for overnight camping!
We swam, shot bb guns and arrows, rowed boats, sang, danced, hiked, made
cool things, and ate great food!  It was fun!  Hopefully everybody will
make it next year!

The Pinewood Derby has been rescheduled from 1/15/06 to 3/26/06

Cub Scout Klondike -- date - 2/4 -- This is loads of fun.  Each den has a sled
and goes through a number of activities.  Can we get enough people for each den
to go?  We need to get a commitment from everybody quickly!

Scouting for Food -- Joe and I talked about this and I have signed our pack
up for this event.  I marked Beachwood Estates and Edgemere as our packs areas.
We'll need scouts & parents to distribute bags in each area and then pick them
up the following week.  The food goes to the Community Assistance Network on
Dunmanway.  I believe this is the last week in February or the beginning of
March.  I'll have more info after Feb's roundtable.  I'll handle scouts in
Beachwood Estates... can someone who lives in Edgemere proper be the point
person for that neighborhood.  This is a Good Turn for our pack.  It's not
incredibly hard and will help those in need in our own community.  Please plan
on helping out.

Contact for VFW--in Rob's pending absence (due to work) Kim Carrigan will be
our VFW contact

Pinewood Derby -- rescheduled for 3/26.  Cars have been distributed.  The
track is at Donavan's Bar.  The rules were reviewed and distributed to the pack.
There will be 5 sets of trophy's for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places--Tigers, Wolves,
Bears, Webelos and Girl Scouts.  Additionally, each scout will receive a ribbon
for participating.

Rechartering -- It took almost a month of work but I've completed and turned
in our pack charter.

Webelos leader -- Wendy McConnell has stepped up to handle the 2 Webelos 1's
that are left after Cathy's group bridges.  They will be included in the Bear
Den's whittling chip sessions in January.

The Webelos will be bridging at the Blue & Gold in February.  They are
starting to go to the Boy Scout meetings (rather than Cub Scout meetings) to
begin to integrate into their troop.  They will be coming back for the Klondike,
Pinewood Derby, and obviously--the Blue & Gold.  I am going to pick up
certificates for the Webelos that are moving on.

Blue & Gold -- at the VFW on 2/26.  We'll need to finalize food, etc.  We
also need a theme!  I think it would be nice if each den did something to
present to the pack (skit, song, whatever).  Finally, we'll have the father/son
cake contest too.

Fund-raising -- we'll be getting candy boxes (Hershey) from Falter
Fund-raising (Kim is handling the ordering of these).  We hope each kid can sell
at least one box.  There will be more than one box available if more can be
sold.  We've not had a fund-raiser this year and need to start filling the bank.

BB Award -- I tracked down Mike Ness and Nick Rego last night at roundtable.
Nick will send me the two awards that were missed (Tim Duncan and Rob Carrigan)
before the Blue & Gold.

Constellation Overnight - I received information about an overnight on the USS
Constellation.  It sounds like it would be fun.  We pretty much have our pick of
dates if we schedule it early enough.  I was thinking of some time in
March--either a Friday/Saturday or Saturday/Sunday.  The cost is $40 per person.
They look for the groups to have an age range... based on this I think that the
wolves, bears, and the two remaining Webelo 1's could make a fun group to go
(with parental support!)

Gunsafe Program -- This program is from the NRA.  I'd like to purchase the
flyers, workbooks, instructors guide, and animated video.  I think the cost will
be about $30 and that would have materials for Tigers, Wolves, Bears, and
Webelos.  I feel comfortable that we can put on the program.  I also hope to
talk with one of my neighbors (a police officer) to see if he would come over to
a meeting to talk about gun safety for a few minutes.

Training --

Cub Scout New Leader Training -- this Saturday (1/14) at St Peters Lutheran
Church.  Here's the schedule:
8:00 Registration
8:30 - 10 Youth Protection Training
10-11:30 New Leader Essentials
11:30-12:30 Lunch
12:30-3:30 Leader Specifics (Tiger, Den, Webelos, Cubmaster and Pack Committee)
Cost: $5 (to cover food.)  To register contact Deanna Medlin at 410-282-8370
Also, let us know you go so we can keep records up to date!

Adult Leader Fundamentals:  March 19th 1-7PM, April 2nd 1-7, April 21-23.
Contact Sharon Greenbeck (410-663-2328 or heymom3@comcast.net) to register.  Rob
and Kim went to this last year and enjoyed it (even though Rob's den beat Kim's den!)

On the horizon:

End of year picnic -- I think we've decided to hold this at the VFW... we need
to finalize a date to get it from the vfw.

Den camp out at the VFW?

Service project for the VFW?

Chesapeake Highland Games - 1 day event (4 hours), first weekend of June... more
specifics to come.  supposed to be lots of fun!

Cub Scout Resident Camp -- they have changed it a bit.  They have two different
sessions each week-- Sunday to Tuesday and Wednesday to Saturday.  The first
session is a day shorter than last year to help parents who can't get all the
days off.  Another change is there are two weeks at the end of July/beginning of
August where they won't have boy scout or cub scout camp (Spencer and Oest will
be closed for the Polish Scout Jamboree.)  Rob, Robbie, Kyle, and I went to Cub
Scout Resident Camp last year AND IT WAS A BLAST!  I plan on going again this
year (when I asked Kyle he almost screamed he wanted to go!)  We need to put our
heads together to see if we can get a group to go.  I'll pick up the placemats
from the Scout Shop before the Blue & Gold.  I'd also like to spend a little
time talking about it and showing (somehow) a video or sideshow from last year.
This is an amazing chance for parents and kids to spend some time away "from it
all" and just have fun.  Rob or Kim -- is a tv and vcr available at the VFW?
Maybe we could do some Fund-raising to help defray costs?

Cub Scout Day Camp -- this will be 6/19-6/23 at Merritt Park this year.  They
need volunteers.  Those of you with Boy Scouts -- they can get lots of their
Maryland's required volunteer hours!  Plus it's fun.
